Can Wildlife Removal Companies Remove Alligators?

April 27th, 2022

Question Mark

Alligators encroaching on your home or business can be a scary scene! But removing alligators from your property isn’t as straightforward as a quick call to your local wildlife removal company. Let’s take a look at how and when alligators can be removed from your property.

Who Removes Alligators from Florida Properties?

There are two main types of wildlife removal in Florida: wildlife that can be removed by a wildlife removal company and wildlife removal that requires government involvement.

Rodents, Muscovy ducks, raccoons, bats, opossums, snakes, and squirrels can all be removed by wildlife removal companies, like Alford Wildlife. But if you have issues with alligators, burrowing owls, bears, or panthers, it’s time to call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

How Do I Request Help with Alligator Removal?

The FWC has a Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program (SNAP) to proactively address alligator issues in developed areas.

Generally, FWC will consider removing a gator if it’s at least 4 feet long and threatening people, pets, or property. They also remove smaller alligators if they wind up in places like your pool or garage. For more information or to request help, call the Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286).

How Do I Prevent Alligators from Invading my Property?

Deter alligators from getting too close to your property with deterrents like fencing and metal guards. Keeping garbage bagged and in sealed bins can help keep wildlife away, too. By being proactive, you can peacefully exist with the alligators that share our Southwest Florida habitat.

While Alford Wildlife and Pest Management can’t help you with alligator removal, we can help you with other nuisance animal removal!

Our wildlife removal process involves live trapping and relocation of animals. Once we remove the nuisance wildlife from your home, we work to remove points of entry, preventing future return. We also decontaminate the area, remove any animals that may have died on your property, and fix insulation that may have been damaged or destroyed.
