What makes Florida a fantastic place to live for us, is also what makes it a great home for termites. Termites love the climate of Southwest Florida and who can blame them?

We are sure you are aware that termites can cause a lot of property damage, but in case you still have difficulties spotting them, here, we cover the major signs of a termite infestation and how you can remove them from your property with professional termite removal services.

Identifying Termites

There are three types of termites that destroy Southwest Florida homes: Subterranean termites, Drywood termites, and Formosan termites.

Unfortunately, by the time you notice some of the destruction they cause, they’ve been in your home for quite some time. That’s because the damage they cause to wood will be from the inside out. Some of the first signs you can look for are blisters in the wood or wood that sounds hollow when you knock on it.

Here are the other signs of a termite infestation:

  • Discolored drywall
  • Small, pinpoint holes in drywall
  • Damaged or crumbling wood
  • Maze-like patterns in walls
  • Swarms of termites around your home
  • Termite droppings (called “frass”) – which are wood-colored and look like a tiny pile of wood pellets.

Removing Termites

Removing termites requires the help of professional pest control experts to ensure that the infestation is removed completely and prevented from happening again.

At Alford Wildlife & Pest Management, the first thing we do is conduct a free inspection of your home and confirm you have termites. Then, we work with you to formulate a plan to get rid of them. We are completely transparent with this process, as we want to make sure you feel as comfortable and well-informed as possible. We also work hard to protect your family against any chemicals or processes we use to exterminate the termites.

Lastly, we’ll follow up with you to make sure the termites haven’t returned. We also offer annual maintenance plans and treatment.
