Common Nuisance Wildlife Found in the Tampa Bay Area

We all love seeing wildlife while out and about in Tampa Bay, but that doesn’t mean we want creatures following us home. You are probably aware of rodents as common pests, but do you know the other types of animals that can be a nuisance to you?

From armadillos to raccoons to bats to Muscovy ducks and everything in between, all of these can cause damage to your property. Alford Wildlife & Pest Management offers wildlife removal in Tampa and can help you extract wildlife from your home.

Here are a few of the most common non-rodent animals we often see invading homeowners’ properties in the Tampa area.

1.    Muscovy Ducks

While some don’t consider these ducks a threat, they can destroy your landscaping features like flower beds, and leave their droppings everywhere.

According to the FWC, this non-native species is considered “undesirable because of their potential to transmit diseases and/or to interbreed with Florida native waterfowl.” Some people also find them rather aggressive.

If you are noticing the birds around your home or their droppings in the driveway, give us a call. We’d be happy to help you remove them from your home or business.

2.    Raccoons

These cute critters are enjoyable to see outside but not so much when they make your attic their home. It starts when you notice a foul smell, which comes from the raccoon feces and urine. You might also hear scurrying noises in your attic. This is never a good sign since raccoons can cause major damage to your roofing when they try to create an easy entry point.

Our removal services include removing these points of entry from your home or business, decontaminating the area, and repairing insulation they may have destroyed.

3.    Bats

It only takes a 1-inch-wide opening for a bat to squeeze into your home and set up camp. And while they may be a nuisance in your home, bats are an important part of the ecosystem in Florida. That’s why it is important to call a licensed wildlife removal expert that is best acquainted with removing them.

Some of the signs indicating you have a bat infestation are squeaking sounds, the smell of ammonia, and other unexplained odors.

4.    Armadillos

Noticing a lot of holes in your yard? They might be from an armadillo. They aren’t dangerous but they sure can be a nuisance.

Our wildlife removal services in the Tampa area can humanely and safely remove these critters from your home and relocate them somewhere more suitable. That way, you can go back to enjoying their presence in the wild instead of cursing their existence in your backyard.
